When you install a charging point in Belgium, you are legally required to have an electrical certification carried out.
Just like the installation of an additional circuit for solar panels, the extension of your electrical installation with a circuit for a charging point also falls under this certification obligation.
How does it work?
Before your new home charger can be used, a certified body must check and approve the modifications to your electrical installation according to the applicable AREI standards.
Because Blossom is responsible for the complete installation of the home charger, we arrange this certification for you. The cost is included in your quotation.
What if my installation is rejected?
Rejection due to problems with the charging point installation
If the rejection is caused by the installation of the charging point, we will fix the issue and schedule a re-certification free of charge.
Until then, the charging point remains out of service. Only after a valid certification will we activate the charging point.
Rejection due to existing defects in the home installation
Any AREI infringements already present in the general electrical installation of your home are your responsibility.
If your installation is rejected for this reason, there are two options:
You have these defects repaired and contact us to schedule a re-certification (at your expense). After a successful certification, we will activate the charging point.
You have these defects repaired and arrange a certification yourself with a certified body. Then you provide us with the certification report. Only after receiving a valid report will we activate the charging point.
What about replacing an existing, approved charging point?
No re-certification required:
If a charging point has already been certified and is replaced 1-to-1 by a new (different) charger, without any changes to the electrical installation, no re-certification is required.
Re-certification required:
If any changes are made to the electrical installation (e.g. an additional circuit, an adjustment in the distribution board, or a change to the electrical diagram), a new certification is mandatory.
Important
As long as a charging point has not been certified and approved, it may not be used for charging!
