Self-Installation of the Dongle

The Blossom smart charging solution uses a dongle to transmit data from your smart meter to control the charging station.

What You’ll Need:

A digital meter with an active P1 port

The Blossom app on your smartphone

Wired internet (UTP) or Wi-Fi signal (2.4GHz) near your smart meter

A power outlet near the smart meter to power the dongle (see below)

Checking the P1 Port:

Make sure the P1 port on your meter is active. If it is not, request activation from your grid operator as described [here].

If your P1 port is already in use by another device, don’t worry—our dongle has a P1 output for daisy-chaining the P1 signal to another device.

Physical Installation of the Dongle

Connect the Dongle:

Plug the dongle into the P1 port of your digital meter (located under the green cover) using the supplied cable. Depending on the type of meter, there may also be an S1 port—make sure to use the P1 port.

If a cable is already plugged into your P1 port, you can connect it later to the P1 output of the dongle.

Power the Dongle:

Plug the power adapter into an outlet and connect it to the dongle (via USB-C).

While additional power is not strictly necessary, it is strongly recommended to ensure a stable connection. Some types of smart meters may not provide sufficient power through the P1 port to operate the dongle.

Use the power adapter if:

You are also using the dongle’s P1 output.

The Wi-Fi signal is weak or unstable.

Wi-Fi or UTP?

The dongle can connect to the internet via UTP or Wi-Fi.

Recommendation: If possible, connect the dongle via UTP. Use the supplied UTP cable to connect the dongle to the internet.

Activating Smart Charging

Ensure that the Blossom app is installed on your smartphone and that Bluetooth is enabled. The app uses Bluetooth to program the dongle.

The status of your smart charging activation is displayed on the home screen of the app.

If smart charging is not yet activated and the status is missing, please contact us.

The app guides you step by step through the activation process. Here is an overview:

Starting the Setup:

Initiate the setup process in the app.

Putting the Dongle in Configuration Mode:

Follow the app instructions to enable configuration mode on the dongle.

Connecting the Dongle to the Network:

Use the app to connect the dongle to our network.

Finalizing the Setup:

Answer a few questions about your in-home configuration.

Once you complete these steps, your Blossom smart charging functionality is ready for use!

Special Cases

I Have Another Device Using the P1 Port:

Our dongle has a pass-through function for the P1 port. Once configured, you can use the P1 output on the dongle to connect an additional device.

In this case, make sure to use the power adapter.

If the device is correctly connected, the blue LED next to the P1 output will blink briefly (once per second) when data is transmitted.

I Can’t Put the Dongle in Bluetooth Pairing Mode:

You can reset the dongle by:

Holding the reset button for more than 5 seconds, then pressing it briefly once.

After resetting, put the dongle back into pairing mode by quickly pressing the reset button twice.
