How can my self-employed partner use my Blossom home charger?

Updated over a month ago

If your employer provides you with a Blossom home charger, your partner — who is self-employed — may also wish to use that charge point to charge their electric vehicle for professional purposes.

Blossom offers two clear and transparent solutions for this situation:

Scenario 1: Charging via a Blossom Private Charge Card

  • Blossom offers the option to assign an additional private charge card to your home charger.

  • This card is only authorized for your home charge point and cannot be used at public charging stations.

  • Sessions made with this card are recorded in the system but always show €0: no automatic reimbursement or invoicing is generated.

How to request it?

  • You can request a Blossom Private Charge Card for your self-employed partner via the Blossom app.

  • During the request, a name (e.g. the name of the partner’s business) can be assigned to the card to help easily track sessions later.

Compensation and administration

  • The electricity is billed through your own electricity contract, since you are the owner of the charge point.

  • Your self-employed partner reimburses you directly, based on the total kWh charged × a market-based rate.

  • Your partner keeps an internal record of the sessions in their accounting system.

  • The rate can be set in consultation with an accountant (e.g. your real electricity cost, the CREG rate, or a typical public AC charging rate).

Example:

“500 kWh × €0.34/kWh = €170 paid to [your name] on [date] for professional charging via whitelisted card.”

Getting a session overview

  • You can request an overview of all sessions made with the Blossom Private Charge Card via the chat function in the Blossom app.

Tax treatment

  • The charging costs can be recorded in the accounting of your self-employed partner.

  • No VAT deduction is possible, as no VAT invoice is issued.

  • There are no tax implications for you, as long as the reimbursement only covers your actual costs.

Scenario 2: Charging via a Charge Card Invoiced in the Name of the Self-Employed Partner

For self-employed users who prefer working with an official invoice, Blossom offers a separate solution through a dedicated MSP contract.

Blossom MSP Contract for Self-Employed Partners

  • Self-employed partners of Blossom home charger users can notify their interest via their partner to obtain a separate charge card with official invoicing.

  • Blossom then offers an MSP contract at €5/month (excl. VAT), which includes:

    • A dedicated charge card in the name of the self-employed business

    • Separate access to the Blossom app (with consumption overview)

    • Invoiced home charging sessions

    • No roaming fees or margins at Blossom charge points

    • Public charging with the same card

    • Reimbursement to the home charger owner at the CREG rate

How to apply?

  • Contact the Blossom team via the app's chat function and provide the details of your self-employed partner.

  • Blossom will then contact them directly to initiate the MSP contract.

Alternative via an External MSP

  • Your self-employed partner may also charge at your home charger using a card from another MSP (Mobility Service Provider).

  • In this case:

    • Charging sessions are billed to your partner by the external MSP.

    • You are reimbursed at the CREG rate by the external MSP.

    • Blossom handles the financial reconciliation between parties.

    • Your partner receives an invoice from the external MSP.

Note:
Using an external MSP card may incur additional roaming costs or surcharges depending on the provider.
